Welcome to the website of the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Lebanon. Ever since Switzerland opened a consulate in Beirut in 1934, our two countries have shared close and warm ties, through political dialogue, humanitarian solidarity and cultural exchange.
True to its humanitarian tradition, Switzerland continues to support access to basic services, protection and education for the most marginalised groups and works to strengthen institutions and accountability between citizens and the state. Working closely with civil society, including women and young people, Switzerland supports efforts to clarify the fate of the missing and to deal with Lebanon’s past, recognizing that these are essential foundations for a more reconciled Lebanon. It remains a steady advocate for dialogue and de-escalation.
Beyond this political and humanitarian engagement, the Embassy is proud to support cultural exchange between Switzerland and Lebanon, two countries that share a deep appreciation for diversity, creativity and openness to the world. We work closely with the Swiss business community present in Lebanon, too, in order to foster economic ties.

The Embassy in Beirut is also responsible for Switzerland's diplomatic relations with Syria. Switzerland is present in Damascus with a cooperation office and is actively committed to an inclusive political transition process. It continues to provide humanitarian assistance and promotes peace, human rights and economic recovery.
